What is Oracle Cloud Infrastructure?
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, or OCI, is Oracle's cloud platform for compute, storage, networking, databases, and other services. It is a candidate for organizations evaluating where to run Oracle-dependent applications and database-heavy workloads. OCI is distinct from Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP and from NetSuite, which are business applications.
When should an organization include OCI in its shortlist?
Include OCI when Oracle Database dependencies, an Exadata estate, database performance requirements, or Oracle application support constraints materially affect workload placement. Existing Oracle investment is a reason to test OCI, not an automatic selection. Compare service fit, migration effort, operating skills, and current commercial terms with the alternatives.
Is OCI only useful for Oracle databases?
